Best Places to Go On A Date In Cincinnati

On a night out - you don't want to go just anywhere.

    York St. Cafe

    York St. Cafe - 0

738 York St. - Newport (Riverfront)

This place is your one stop date shop. The first floor is an eclectically decorated resteraunt with a fantastic menu for all budgets. The second floor is a fun bar and the third floor is an art gallery. So you can eat, drink and look at art all in the same night - all in one building.

    Sitwell's

    Sitwell's - 3 1/2

324 Ludlow Ave. - Cincinnati (Clifton (gaslight district))

This is a very "creative" place to get a cup of coffee, desserts and free internet. If you just saw a movie at The Esquire and don't want the date to end - it's a no brainer. Especially because it's located next door to that movie theater. However, I would NOT reccomend going here for dinner before the moive. Their dinners suck. And they are very overpriced. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is $4.50! If you want to goto dinner in the Clifton area, see my below reccomendation.

    Ambar India Restaurant

    Ambar India Restaurant - 5

350 Ludlow Ave. - Cincinnati (Clifton (gaslight district))

Ambar is the best Indian food in Cincinnati. Says me. They are rivaled only by the other Indian resteraunts they have opened around the city. But this is still the best. INTERESTING RUMOR: I have heard multiple times that the Indian resteraunt directly across from Ambar (which is named AMOL) is owned by the brother of the Ambar owner. According to the rumor, the two opened a resteraunt together years ago - but they had a fight so great that it ripped the family in two. So now they own competing resteraunts. While Ambar has a better location than Amol (Ambar is right on the street while Amol is off the street a bit) Amol owns the Indian grocery that is attached to it's building. It's an Indian food stand off right in the heart of Clifton!

    Columbia Performance Center - 0

3900 Eastern Ave. - Cincinnati (Columbia Tusculum)

The Columbia Performance Center is the home of NEW EDGECLIFF THEATRE. This is a great theatre to goto if you want to impress someone with your knowledge of the "lesser known but still quality" art scene. Giant puppets are strewn about the lobby and some of the theatre seats are still church pews (because the theatre used to be a church) which gives the space a bohemian atmosphere. However the productions are all major plays and New Edgecliff uses some of the best actors in the city, including equity actors who usually appear in much larger playhouses like the Ensemble and Playhouse in the Park. High quality, low prices. Check out their season at www.newedgecliff.com

    Bella Luna

    Bella Luna - 5

4632 Eastern Ave. - Cincinnati (Columbia Tusculum)

Descent Italian food and a fun atmosphere make this a great place to eat before heading to the New Edgecliff Theatre. It's a little out of the way however so it wouldn't be worth the drive unless you are sticking to the Columbia Tusculm or Mt. Lookout area for the rest of the evening. Its a nice place with no tie required. A less stuffy alternative to The Precinct which is 5 minutes away.

    Esquire 6 Theatre

    Esquire 6 Theatre - 5

320 Ludlow Avenue - Cincinnati (Clifton (gaslight district))

If you're going to do dinner and movie for a date (yawn) then at LEAST do it at the Esquire. An independant theater in Clifton this palce is usually showing something worth seeing. Plus you will be surrounded by college kids and hippies which will make you seem cooler as well as make the evening more fun.

    Cincinnati Observatory Center

    Cincinnati Observatory Center - 5

3489 Observatory Place - Cincinnati (Hyde Park)

If you are looking for an intellectual night out, I reccomend the Observatory in the Hyde Park. It is a wonderful, histortic building set in a beautiful park. They offer inexpensive (and relativly short) classes about whatever celectial phenomanon is currently present in our sky. Then you get to look through the telescope at the thing you just learned about! Do I hear people laughing at me for suggesting this? Well listen up! Their classes are SO popular as date nights that there is often a waiting list - so call early in the week to make your reservation. There is usually a large age range of people who attend the classes.

    Sawyer Point

    Sawyer Point - 5

801 E. Pete Rose Way - Cincinnati (Downtown)

The best place to go for long romantic strolls with great views of downtown, the stadiums and Newport. If you go on a weekend, there is a good chance you will run into a concert or festival event. The park includes free tennis courts, sand volleyball, roller skating, playgrounds for the kids, a wading pool in the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter. You can walk to it using the Purple People Bridge which makes this park a great way to begin or end a trip to Newport on the Levee.
