New owner, New Life

The Zen is in the Now. New owner is updating this nice coffee house with items that needed to be done 3 -4 years ago. New menu items are priced well and are very good and quality of drinks have gone up too. New owner (Jeff?) really working hard to make this place into something great. We have visited 4 times the past two weeks and has attracted back many customers of all ages. Keep up the good work we will visit often.

I used to love Zen and Now. I was so happy when it opened -- we finally had someone who cared about real coffee on the west side (since Starbucks doesn't seem to know there are people living over here). But ever since the place was sold to the current owners it's been all down hill. The laid back, hip, eclectic atmosphere is completely gone. It's been replaced by owners who use the place as a personal hangout for their friends, family, kids running around, etc. And I think they must all smoke because it's impossible to even sit outside there now. They also don't have a clue about coffee. The person I was with ordered a cappuccino and the woman making it asked what flavor he wanted. I almost choked on my sub-par drip coffee. It's a shame, but Now... all the Zen is gone.
