Who's in: Downtown Restaurant Week

17 places are offering $35 dinner specials through Aug. 12

For the fourth year, Downtown restaurants are joining forces for the Downtown Restaurant Week Aug. 6-12.

Some are featuring three-course dinner specials for $35 while others are offering $35 dinner for two. Reservations are encouraged (some places have Open Table links).

Arnold's Bar & Grill

Istanbul Grill

This Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant is owned by Levant Kurucay, who used to be one of the owners of Cafe Istanbul. The new restaurant has many of the same items that were on the menu at Cafe Istanbul: appetizers such as shepherd’s salad, hummus, baba ghanoush, calamari and zucchini pancakes. All kinds of kebabs are on the menu, seafood casserole and more. Turkish coffee is also offered. Lunch specials are available 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse

This schmantzy downtown steakhouse is one of Jeff Ruby’s small chain of high-end, high-price and high-service restaurants. This one is distinguished by its glitzy, comfortable setting, its location across the street from the Aronoff, and the window where you can see that the Ruby kitchen serves steaks that have been dry-aged on the premises.

Who knew sushi and nightclubs went so well together? At Mixx Ultra Lounge, the signature sauce is hot and the scene is even hotter, with lounge furniture, DJs and three floors. They also pride themselves with a diverse clientele. Head there during the week to try their sushi rolls, then put on your finest for the weekend, where it’s the place to see and be seen. Just make sure to wipe that teriyaki sauce off your mouth before talking to the cutie by the bar.

This beautiful new restaurant could be nowhere but Cincinnati. It defines and amplifies the themes that have been used in the on-going revival of Downtown. The beer experience is excellent: Lots of choices, some familiar, others esoteric, and plenty of fresh local stuff. On the menu, bready pretzels with beer cheese join flatbreads, burgers and plenty of pork with German influences.
