Myra's Dionysus
121 Calhoun St. -
Cincinnati
Myra's has an extensive list of soups and they feature eight different ones a day. For winter, the Thai Pumpkin is by far the most popular. They also recommend a new Indian soup, Mulligatawny, with coconut and Indian spices. Feel a cold coming on? Order the Avgolemono, a Greek soup with chicken broth and rice that's good to eat when you feel a bit under the weather.
Melt
4165 Hamilton Ave. -
Cincinnati
All of Melt’s soups are house-made and contain fresh ingredients. They have 40 soup recipes and feature four different soups a day. Some recommendations include the curry tomato garbanzo or the gypsy vegetable. In the mood for chili? They make 14 quarts of vegan chili a day and sell all of it. Non-vegans might like the smoky potato dill - they’ll think there’s bacon in it, but there’s not … sneaky!
Wildflower Café and Coffee House
207 E. Main St. -
Mason
This family-owned cafe is passionate about local and organic foods that are healthy, good for the environment and delicious, too. Their soups are made-from-scratch and they rotate one each day. Recommendations include the baked potato rosemary, lobster bisque soup, filet mignon chili, chicken and vegetable and chicken and rice.
Bellevue Bistro
313 Fairfield Ave. - BellevueAfter a day of shopping along Fairfield Avenue, stop in Bellevue Bistro for their popular potato soup, clam chowder or tomato basil soup, all served with oyster crackers.
Mount Adams Fish House
940 Pavillion St. - CincinnatiIt can get chilly on the hills of Mt. Adams, so warm up at the Mt. Adams Fish house before a night out. They recommend the crab and corn chowder and fish house chowder for the chilly winter weather.
Cooks' Wares - Springboro
756 N. Main St. - SpringboroYou could pop some soup out of a can - but making some rich, warm soup is so much better. Cooks' Wares in Springboro is hosting "Cheerful Soup & Salad Suppers with Edward Stanziano," on Jan 15, where you learn how to make three salads and soups: crab & cheese soup, sausage lentil soup and traditional Italian wedding soup. For pricing information and to reserve your spot in the class, visit their Web site, www.cookswaresonline.com.
