Terry's offers a wide variety of signature sauces and toppings to go on its featured burgers but also serves chicken, fish and steak. But don't get too excited and forget the fresh cut fries. The fun decor, neon lights and lazy Susan style fridge complete the traditional diner feel. Terry's has a decent selection of domestic and imported beers with a small yet fine selection of liquors and wines.
For more than eight decades, burgers have been what Zip's Cafe does best. They're made from meat delivered daily from Cincinnati's Bleh-Avril and Sons Inc. The small space can feel crowded, but it's casual, comfy and lively - especially in the front room where TV monitors blare, the jukebox roars and the model train circles the ceiling.
The menu is simple: burgers, hot dogs and fries. But there are lots of toppings for customizing your own: grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, green peppers, jalapenos and A-1 sauce, along with the standard ketchup, mustard, mayo, tomato, lettuce and onion.
Quatman Cafe, a come-as-you-are type place, has been keeping it simple for years, and the formula is clearly working for them. The menu is straight-forward with deli sandwiches, homemade soups and chili, corned and roast beef, but their most popular item is the cheeseburger. Add fries and a drink, and you've got a meal for under $7.
This neighborhood bar is full of flair, featuring an entrance wall of caricatures depicting frequent and locally famous customers of the past. Arthur's is known for offering some delectable burgers. The best perennial deal of the house is "Burger Madness," which features their burgers with unlimited toppings, Sunday through Tuesday.
Flipdaddy’s Burgers & Beers blends appetizing food and refreshing beer selections in a cool atmosphere, making for a pleasurable culinary experience. Specializing in a unique array of upscale burgers, Flipdaddy’s provides inventive twists on the classic. In fact, it has 'vegetarian nirvana,' or the "Bean Me Up, Scotty" burger, a black bean patty covered with pepperjack cheese, crunchy tortilla strips, and salsa.
When you think of sports bar food, the words "fried" and "cheesy" usually come to mind. But at Gordo's, you can get a Jean-Robert burger, thanks to owner Gordo, who used to be chef de cuisine for the Jean-Robert Restaurant Group. Gordo's gives off a sports bar vibe with an upscale feel. Don't worry, there are still TVs to watch the Sunday game and Bengals-inspired drinks like Bengal Bombs and Hudy Delight.
Ft. Thomas locals love their 915 Pub. Its half-pound Black Angus chuck burgers come with a variety of toppings, whether it’s the Italian (pepperoni, provolone and pizza sauce) or the Mett (topped with grilled Mettwurst, saurkraut and cheddar). Come in Wednesdays for Burger Mania - up to 5 toppings for a flat $5. Wings are 35 cents on Mondays. You can order wings mild to extra-hot. Appetizers are half-priced all day Sunday. The Portabella with crabcakes garnished with champagne horseradish cream is one of the Pub's most unusual appetizers. 915 Pub also serves a variety of salads, pizza--try the unusual chicken parmesan topped with Caesar salad--sandwiches, and homemade soup and slaw. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday, 3 - 6 p.m.
Sammy's features burgers, of course, and hot dogs. The restaurant uses Angus beef, though turkey is also an option, and it serves Nathan's dogs. There are many possibilities for additions, including chorizo, guacamole, bacon and chipotle sauce. There are 72 beers available, seven of them draft, as well as a full service bar. There's a Mexican slant to the menu, with quesadillas and chili, zucchini soup, jalapeño bottle caps, plus sandwiches, salads and fries. Happy hour is 3-7 p.m. daily.
Zola has divine burgers at even more divine prices. On Wednesdays, it celebrates Burger Mania, featuring Angus beef and all the fixings you can imagine.
