WE TRIED: Scotch egg ($7.95)

WHAT IT IS: A boiled egg wrapped in sausage and bread crumbs and served on a pile of fried pasta with Scottish Pub Mustard.

WHY WE TRIED IT: It sounded quite gross - so of course we had to try it!

GUT REACTION: What are the Scottish thinking? This is much larger and grosser looking than I expected. So much sausage! Time to go in for a taste.

SEVERAL BITES LATER: It's not terrible, but I definitely can't eat more than a few timid bites. The mustard is too spicy; the sausage is OK. The egg is a bit dry, and an employee told us she's been on the hunt for something other than the mustard to dip it in.

WHERE TO GET IT: Nicholson's Tavern and Pub, 625 Walnut St., downtown, 513-564-0123 or www.tavernrestaurantgroup.com

FINAL VERDICT: Try this - you might like it.
