The only thing I had heard about Hebron Grille before going there was that they had a 7 lb. burger challenge. Yes, seven big ones. It cost $29.95 but if you finished it, it was free. I shook my head, thinking, who would stuff themselves like that? And then I went to Hebron Grille and saw their all-you-can-eat ribs deal.

The mood: Hebron Grille was contemporary, clean and smelled “new.” It gave off a suburban sports bar vibe without bombarding us with loud TVs. I almost forgot we were in Kentucky: I didn’t smell any smoke, didn’t see anyone lighting up and no ashtrays were to be found. Awesome!

It was a mixed crowd of young families with toddlers running around their table, friends greeting each other at the bar and couples of all ages in the booths.

The food: My husband went back and forth between the pretzel sticks with queso or spinach artichoke dip for our appetizer before I convinced him to get the spicy feta pizza ($7.99), a grilled peta bread pizza with spicy feta spread, sautéed onions, tomatoes and chunky pieces of gyro meat. For $7.99, we worried it would be more like a small meal.

The key word here is “small. This thing was really tiny - smaller than my hand. The gryo meat was very good and well-seasoned, which saved it. My husband said it would’ve been more awesome if it came with a little cup of tzatziki sauce. And maybe if it cost, like, half of what it did.

As for our dinner, they offer gyros, sandwiches like the Rueben, Philly cheese steak, BBQ bacon chicken sandwich and burgers like the jalapeno burger with pepper jack cheese.

My husband noshed on the steakhouse burger ($8.99), a big ol’ burger with cheddar cheese, barbeque sauce and, the best part, crunchy onion rings. He also ordered coleslaw ($1.99), which was a big bowl of the creamy side dish.

All it took was a sign by the entrance, “All-you-can-eat ribs, $11.99,” and suddenly I was faced with the fact that I better eat a lot of ribs to make this worth it. Thankfully, their ribs were really good: fall-off-the-bone with sweet, tangy barbeque sauce. I pounded through a full slab, which was more than enough food for me. I hesitantly ordered another, which was a half slab. That was definitely all I could eat, and I was allowed to take most of it home for lunch the next day.

The drinks: Water (free) for both of us.

The damage: $30.96, not including tax.

The verdict: We’d definitely go back on an all-you-can-eat night, or for Taco Tuesday for their $1 tacos and $2 margaritas.
