Excellent Pizza from a Bostonian

I'm always skeptical about Pizza reviews in Cincinnati. Most people in Cincinnati really aren't qualified to write a review just because they visited NY a few times. Nor are Eastcoasters openning up a Pizza joint automatically qualified to make Pizza either. In fact Pizza in NYC is often not that great although better on avaerage than Cincinnati. Brooklyn and Boston you have the best chances of hitting a random good Pizza. Not so easy in Manhattan. Boston has some great Pizza but venture more than about 5-10 miles away and the Pizza goes downhill fast. If you have been to Pizza Regina (North end), Santarpios (East Boston) or Bianchis (Revere Beach) then you have had a good Pizza. I only rate Cheese Pizza because this has to be good or forget it. Goodefellas has fantastic thin but Chewy crust (not cracker like) and cheese that forms huge bubbles when cooking. These are key to a good Eastcoast Pizza. The sauce is light and not overly hit with fake Garlic powder or too much oregano. The slices are the biggest ever since they cut it from a 24" pie! and the value is great! The only other Pizza place in Cincy that I have found with Pizza that comes close is Fratellis in West Chester. Fratellis may even be better and is worth the trip if you like my Boston type favorites. Make sure you ask Fratellis to cook it well done if you want a more traditional experience. By the way good Pizza is always cooked directly on the stone. If you go to a place and they are cooking it on a tray or belt it's not eastcoast. A place that sells slices is great but I only get them if they have just come out. Rewarming Pizza dries it out and makes good Pizza too crackery so I avoid slices that are cool. Buy a Pie or be patient for one coming out for slices. The little wood oven Pizza places sprouting up are also pretty decent like A.Tavola.(Downtown by SCPA). They make a nice Pizza Margherita. The wood oven gives the crust a great flavor. Happy Pizza hunting.

Great new pizza place

They have huge New York style slices of pizza- you can walk in and get it by the slice or order an entire pizza in three different sizes. I also had an awesome caprese salad. The store is pretty laid back and there is a huge patio outside.

On the second floor they have a speakeasy type bar with tons of bourbon and a great beer selection!
