Well I can finally say Cincinnati has got a deli. We are pleased that it is a good one. Great service, good food and a pretty decent atmosphere make Rascals a good place to eat.

Friendly service, delicious breakfast

I love this place. The management and staff are very attentive and friendly. The food, particularly the breakfast, is reasonably priced and delicious. Try the grilled pastrami (you won't miss bacon), as well as the laktes. I meet clients at Rascals for breakfast and lunch and enjoy taking the family from time to time for breakfast on the weekend.

like a taste of Brooklyn

After growing up in Brooklyn on some of the best delis around. I was glad to discover Rascals. Just like Brooklyn or like mom made. I believe they are good now and will be better with time.

Avoid this restaurant

Very poor. I went there yesterday and ordered some carry out. I ordered the "Rascals' Style Club Sandwich". The man who took my order didn't listen to my order correctly and thought I said the Rascals' Club. Given these two sound a lot alike, you'd think he would have confirmed with me what I wanted. One has only turkey, the other turkey and pastrami.

The guy who made my first sandwich was very strange. He asked me multiple questions and he mumbled and whispered. I had to repeatedly ask him to repeat what he was saying.

It took at least 5 minutes to get my sandwich.

I got my sandwich and left. Opened it up in my car and didn't see any Pastrami. So I go back in to see what happened.

It was now that I'm told there are 2 club sandwiches and he made me the one without pastrami. I know I ordered the Rascals' Style Club b/c I thought that was a funny word to have in there - Style.

At this point I didn't feel like waiting on my sandwich, I just wanted my money back. The mumbler explained that he couldn't open the cash register. Now take note, this was a $10 sandwich. If I pay that much, I want it right.

So I had to now wait on the manager to get out of a 'meeting' to give me money. It was a busy lunch time and for an unknown reason the manager was busy in a back room meeting.

After waiting for the manager to get out of his very important meeting we talked about my sandwich.

I said I ordered the Style club. This 'manager' quickly said "no you ordered the 'club.' I didn't b/c I know what I said. He didn't write it down, or give me a reciept. Yet, he was very confident that I didn't order correctly.

By now I can't believe I am fighting with a man who clearly doesn't listen, nor care what his customers think.

At this point I have spent nearly 20 minutes trying to get a quick $10 deli sandwich. He says they can make another for me. So I say sure.

I ask if this happens a lot, confusing the two clubs. He said 'no, you just have to be careful when ordering'. I am simply amazed at the comment - as I did nothing wrong and the guy who doesn't write down an order or read it back to me is telling me to be more careful.

Finally get my correct sandwich and the bread is burnt and there is no mayo on it. The menu clearly stats to have mayo on the sandwich.

Needless to say, I think it is important to share my experience so others can decide for themselves if this is the type of place they would like to spend $10 for a sandwich.

Finally a real deli

Food, service ,selection surpassed my expectations. Have many friends who have eaten there multiple times and love it. Its the real first deli in this town . Im a deli maniac and have eaten at second avenue delis in New York including Carnegie and Stage in the theatre district and Katzs in the lower East Side. In Los Angeles I frequent Canters, Arts, Jerrys andBrents in Northridge. So dont tell me I dont know what Im talking about...Rascals is the real deal and the Zboys ,Morris and Gary make it an enjoyable experience.

Best dish is AVOIDENCE!

Finally a NY Deli I thought.....I hate being let down. Perhaps it was living in New York for the past 15 years that wouldn't allow this place to have even a 2 star rating. The food itself was not bad but rather far from good. Consider it the Subway of Jewish dining, You know what your getting, you wish for more, but you are left with the same bland food at every turn.
What really did it for me was the staff, nearly empty on a saturday afternoon and I sat waiting for over 20 minutes. How long should it take for a Roumanian Pastrami? If I hadn't been so hopful I would have walked out, don't make the same mistake.
