After moving to cincinnati from NYC, I was convinced I'd never find great sushi here. Thankfully, I was wrong! I live down the street from Ichiban and have started going here every week! It's a beautiful restaurant and makes a great date place. It's also got a beautiful bar, and is a fun place to start or end a night of barhopping.
As far as food, everything I've had has been delish. I recommend the Honey Bee roll and the Volcano. And all the small plates are great, especially when you don't feel like just eating sushi. Also I LOOVE the robotayaki - grilled skewers of everything from squid to beef tongue. I am working my way through them all. They are great with a beer or a cocktail or as an appetizer. The prices are great, and there are lots of specials like happy hour or half-price sushi nights. Even with all the specials, it's a classy place.
Last time I went, our server (who was awesome) told us that there are special deals if you have your birthday party there so I am definitely going to do that.
Ichiban is really a gem and Cincy is lucky to have it! Go, you won't be disappointed.

WOW- and not in a good way. Dining area is very much like Aqua was, everything else was very disappointing. The sushi was had little flavor and was tough. It seemed as if the fished used to prepare was old and dried out. This is the first time I have ever had soy sauce that tasted bad. The pieces of sushi were far less than bite size. Although there were only three other tables full the wait time was painful. I can say I tried it but I won't return. I would not suggest dining here to anyone. Don't waste your money.
