Perfectly set among the many Indian restaurants on Ludlow, Ambar is an absolute staple for UC students, Cliftonites and outsiders alike. The Northern Indian cuisine caters to vegetarians with such scrumptious delights as mater paneer (homemade cheese and green peas) and malai kofta (vegetable balls in a tomato and onion sauce). Many of the appetizers are vegetarian, as well, such as the zesty pakoras and samosas. For meat-lovers, the chicken is cooked specially in a tandoor oven, giving it a juicy flavor and bright pink exterior. Have a beer or a glass of wine to cool your palate, or maybe just some raita (yogurt with mint and cucumber). You can get some takeout from here, too.
