Sonny’s Three Meat Burger open in Anderson

Safet Sabanagic spent almost a full year perfecting his burger recipe. Those burgers, made with mostly beef, plus lamb, chicken and his secret blend of spices, are the star of the menu at Sonny’s Three Meat Burger in Anderson Township, which he opened about two months ago at 7863 Beechmont Ave.

Diners can top their patties with any of 17 different burger toppings for no extra charge. Among them are house-made “Dervina” sauce, made with fresh veggies and packing a bit of a spicy kick, named for Sabanagic’s wife. (Speaking of names, the restaurant itself is named for the couple’s 16-month-old son.)

10 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. 513-474-5111 or visit the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Bilog coffee shop opens in Wyoming

Bilog, the coffee shop and cafe that Wyoming residents have been anticipating for at least a year, opened on Feb. 1.

The inspiration for the menu and the cafe in general is international. Owner Elizabeth Picos is from the Philippines, and you'll find that influence in the Filipino empanadas, but there are other savory pastries, such as spanakopita turnovers and filled brioche. There is an in-house sushi chef, and pastry chef Lisa Kindle, who came to Bilog from the Bonbonerie. She makes the brioche, cookies, scones and Australian Lamington cake (squares of chocolate-covered sponge cake covered with coconut). There are also soups, sandwiches, salads and gelato on the menu.

Bilog (pronounced buh-log) is open 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. 1212 Springfield Pike, 513-761-2211.

Precinct reopens while remodeling

The Precinct, the original Jeff Ruby steakhouse, in Columbia-Tusculum is still in the middle of a remodeling project, and the Precinct menu is still in the process of being changed, but the steakhouse is back to its normal operating hours.

Enough of the work has been done to make that possible, though owner Jeff Ruby said installing the antique elevator is taking longer than they thought. 5-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 311 Delta Ave., Columbia-Tusculum. 513-321-5454

1215 coffee, wine location opens

1215, the "wine bar and coffee lab" in the Gateway Quarter on Vine St., opened last week. It will now be open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Thursday-Friday, 8 a.m.-2 a.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Bob Bonder, who also owns Tazza Mia, owns 1215 with Joanna Argus. The emphasis is on coffee and wine appreciation and connoisseurship, with enough food served to go with the drinks. Bonder has teamed up with Caitlin Steininger of Cooking with Caitli to serve brunch and desserts to accompany coffee. There will be three dishes each weekend, with the most popular one kept on the menu.

Dinnertime means cheese and meat plates, a different one for each wine flight, and lunch is the same ingredients in those cheese and meat plates turned into sandwiches.

Lots of wine tastings, wine flights, coffee cuppings are planned. 1215 Vine St., 513-381-1388.

Toby Keith’s bar opens at Banks

Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill has opened at The Banks . The country-and-western themed bar and family restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and has live country acts lined up. Smokehouse nachos, a fried bologna sandwich, burgers, Delmonico steak, country-fried steak, chili, cobb salad and apple pie are all on the menu.

Open 11 a.m.-midnight Monday-Tuesday; 11 a.m. -2:30 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday, noon-midnight Sunday. Kitchen open until 10 p.m. nightly.

145 E. 2nd St., 513-721-8629 (TOBY).

Quesadilla trailer plans Short Vine store

Fallon Horstmeyer is planning to open a brick-and-mortar location of her Turophilia quesadilla concept.

It will be on Short Vine in Corryville, the first restaurant to be part of the renovation project going on in the neighborhood .

Turophilia (it means love of cheese) will occupy a former Subway at 2624 Vine, directly across from Bogart's. It will have seating for 25-30 people in a cozy setting with booths and bar seating. In addition to her list of at least 15 fanciful quesadillas, she'll have salads, chips and salsa, and a coffee bar. She hopes to open in mid-April.

She'll still keep her original mobile food business selling quesadillas from an Airstream trailer active, hitting the streets again in March. She hopes to be on Fountain Square this year.

Remodeling: Benihana

The Downtown Benihana has closed for remodeling.

A company spokesperson couldn’t say when the restaurant, 126 East 6th St., will reopen, only that the closure was for “planned renovations.”

The Springdale outpost of the chain remains open at 50 Tri-County Parkway.
