The Bistro: User Reviews
I found that JeanRo has a great word-of-mouth reputation. Sadly, on weeknights they must put in the "B" team, because standards were a bit too low.
They used a rotisserie chicken to make their Coc-au-vin. This means that after the outer layer of delicious sauce, you are left to pick through unflavored grocery store grade rotisserie chicken meat. Additionally, they served us a steamed mussel dish with several unopened mussels (which generally means they were dead before cooking). Any 3rd rate fish camp knows to toss them out before serving your patrons.
These are, of course, very specific and minute complaints. After all, the ambiance is charming, the location is great, and they tend to have obscure beers on tap. So there's a lot to be said for JeanRo. However, when a restaurant markets itself as fine dining (and prices accordingly) they need to have higher standards in the kitchen, even on weeknights.
