Daniele says: This Athens, Ohio, quartet is originally from Dayton and is fronted by Adam Remnant. This is important because he has two musician brothers (one is the bassist in this band), and when you hear the music that comes from these boys, you really get a feel for how much talent flows through this family. Back when I first REALLY started hanging out in the local music scene, I used to go see one of the brothers, Joseph Remnant, crooning his awesome tunes under the moniker of Sallow – he is now an established illustrator living in Los Angeles. Jesse Remnant released a solo album, “The Human Cannonball,” a few years ago that was freakin' beautiful and heartfelt. As Southeast Engine, two of the brothers, Adam and Jesse, come together with Leo DeLuca and Billy Matheny to make beautiful folk-Applachian-inspired music that has similarity to the sounds of Dr. Dog, with colorful lyrics that tell stories that will transport you to a different era. Check this band out on tour in promotion of its recent release of “Canary” at MOTR Pub on March 24. You will not be disappointed. I promise.

Daniele says: Move over, Rhett Miller, Cincinnati has its own upbeat, Americana-infused rock band that surpasses your Old 97s. Yes, you heard me correctly. I went there. Seriously, this song is great and is only a small indication of how great the new album from Shoot Out the Lights sounds. The Cincinnati band, funnily enough, was formed between Memphis and Nashville when the members discovered they all lived near Cincinnati. They met up again later, and voila, a band was formed. Check out the band as it releases its debut in Southgate House's parlour with The Western and Josh Eagle on March 19. You get a free album with the cover charge, and this track's on there. Another fave of mine is "One of These Days." Yeehaw!

Daniele says: I'm having a hard time choosing a favorite song from this album. This is one of them. Adele sure brings it with this follow up album to her 2008 release of "19." Her voice is amazing, and the lyrical content will have you cheering her on from your desk, walking down the street with your earbuds in, or while cleaning your kitchen with her new album cranked all the way up. Move over, snooty divas - Adele's here to stay.
