Effective enough as a rental, but pretty sublime in a packed theater after midnight. Bring your plastic spoons!

"The Room"
Release date: June 27, 2003; Director: Tommy Wiseau; Cast: Tommy Wiseau, Juliette Danielle, Greg Sestero; U.S. box office gross: ?? (reportedly less than $2,000)
Easily the smallest movie on this list, “The Room” became a cult film the old fashioned way: word of mouth. All but invisible when it was originally released, this truly terrible effort boasts horrendous acting, uncomfortable sex scenes and nonsensical plot twists. And its fans can’t get enough. The movie regularly sells out Los Angeles midnight screenings famous for their audience participation and has turned oddball auteur-star Wiseau into a cult icon beloved by far more notable names (celebrity fans include Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill and Kristen Bell and Wiseau was invited to play himself in an episode of “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”). “The Room” is so bad it can’t possibly be considered good, more like incredible. —GB
