Hugh Laurie’s medical mystery ends its run with a one-hour retrospective followed by an hourlong final episode. Like Desperate Housewives, the show ran on a bit beyond its peak. But like Desperate, its peak was considerable and its achievements are worth celebrating — including a great, career-shifting star turn by Laurie, who deserved the Emmy he never won.
