Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and more get high school right

Teen movies are as unpredictable as high school itself. For every “Superbad” or “Mean Girls” that delivers smart, relatable laughs, there are countless others that deservedly flunk out with audiences.
It’s unlikely anyone will be giving a F to “Easy A,” a sharp and witty comedy about a teen (Emma Stone of “Superbad” and “Zombieland”) who sees her popularity skyrocket when false rumors about her promiscuity spread through her high school. With a first-rate supporting cast including “Gossip Girl’s” Penn Badgley, Lisa Kudrow, Amanda Bynes and Oscar nominees Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson and Thomas Haden Church, “Easy A” is equal parts “Clueless” and “Juno” and should make Stone a full-fledged star.
Metromix sat in on a recent Los Angeles press day for the film to hear how Stone, Badgley, Tucci, director Will Gluck and screenwriter Bert V. Royal managed to make a teen movie worth seeing.
