"Please Give"
Filmmaker Nicole Holofcener is easy to take for granted. Her small scale portraits of women’s lives (“Walking and Talking,” “Lovely & Amazing,” “Friends with Money”) are always full of rich performances and sharply observed dialogue that makes the audience feel like they’re eavesdropping on the lives of strangers. There’s much more where that came from in this subtle, funny look at family and materialism in New York starring Catherine Keener, Oliver Platt, Amanda Peet and Rebecca Hall.
Due for release April 23 from Sony Classics.
