Why it's age-inappropriate: Flashbacks reveal that the superhero’s human alter ego, Johnny Blaze (Cage), first fell in love with his own personal Lois Lane, Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes), when the two were teens. That means we’re supposed to buy the 46-year-old Cage and the 36-year-old Mendes as roughly the same age. Outfitting Cage with a bangs-styled-over-forehead hairpiece didn‘t help the cause.
Alternate casting suggestion: Christian Bale happens to be the same age as Mendes, and clearly knows his way around the superhero genre.
