“My Best Friend’s Wedding” (1997)
This romantic comedy became a cult hit among brides-to-be, who tried to model their big day after Cameron Diaz’s pomp and pageantry. But setting aesthetics aside, there’s an awful lot wrong about this ceremony. Diaz might be the most annoying bride of all time, constantly the victim of one planning disaster after another. And then there’s Julia Roberts as the Maid of Honor, deliberately scheming to snatch away the groom (Dermot Mulroney), her longtime best friend. The biggest problem: it seems like the groom-to-be is actually a better fit with his curly-haired pal.
