My favorites are first the one that started it all, "Dr. No," opening in Nassau, as the 'three blind mice' walk with their canes to a calypso beat, then execute Strangeways before he can radio back to London. No, Bond isn't in it, but it nicely sets up the location and plot of the story. Classic. My second favorite would be "Live and Let Die" (mentioned), and third would be "You Only Live Twice," where Bond is ambushed in Hong Kong by a Chinese agent, then buried at sea into the Hong Kong harbor. Obviously I like the old school Bond movies best, but I am looking forward to Quantum of Solace.

I'm surprised you left out "Moonraker," which had one of the most astonishing opening sequences of its time: Bond struggles with a villian over a parachute while more than ten thousand feet in the air. It was incredible stuntwork and a brilliantly shot and edited sequence, and it would have made the rest of the film anti-climactic had it not been for the opening credits sequence that followed, which allowed the audience to catch their collective breaths and get settled in for the rest of the story. The opening to "Thunderball," the fight between Bond and the supposedly dead agent (now disguised as a grieving widow) in a huge room in a French chateau, was pretty good too.
