Sylvester Stallone, “Cop Land”

“Rocky” led to Rambo (in “First Blood”) and Stallone was a major star throughout the ‘80s. By 1993, the year of “Cliffhanger” and “Demolition Man,” things started to slip. Then Stallone took a creative risk, putting on some extra pounds and playing down his macho facade in “Cop Land.” As the honorable sheriff of a corrupt New Jersey community who finally works up the nerve to confront the town’s population of shady New York City cops, he earned some of the best reviews of his career. And even though the comeback was short-lived, we’re not counting him out for good.
