John Travolta, “Pulp Fiction”

Starring in both “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease”—two of the most successful films of the 1970s—made John Travolta a worldwide star by the age of 25. But after a strong start in the ‘80s with “Urban Cowboy,” the star endured a trifecta of failure. “Staying Alive,” “Perfect” and 1983’s “Two of a Kind” were savaged by both audiences and critics, and Travolta found himself typecast as the disco dynamo. It would be 11 years before he broke free of that image in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” taking to the dance floor only once while impressing more with his performance than his moves.
