In “A Beautiful Mind,” aging is a dangerous fact of life. Crowe plays John Forbes Nash Jr., the Nobel Prize-winning mathematician and schizophrenic who, with every passing year, grows increasingly paranoid and reclusive. Crowe approached this arc as one of anxiety, growing more twitchy and testy in Nash’s later years, when all of his hard work finally paid off in the form of a Nobel.
