“Evil Dead II”

Director Sam Raimi goes for broke with this 1987 blood-splattered comedy—a movie so bad it’s sort of brilliant. Bruce Campbell stars as one of several visitors to a remote country cottage who accidentally invoke evil spirits. The intensity—and sheer gore—of the ensuing attacks turned the movie into a cult hit.

Killer 3D moment: Campbell’s most creative counter-attack. Chased by a chainsaw-wielding monster, he grabs the killer’s hands and lifts them high over his head, turning the chainsaw back on top of itself, and leading the beast to saw himself in half. Bloody brilliant.
