New Community producers promise to maintain the NBC comedy's unique sensibility after replacing creator Dan Harmon, who got applause from the Comic-Con crowd.
"We're huge fans of the show," executive producer David Guarascio said. "We're going to be keeping it the weird and wonderful gem it's always been."
Guarascio said he and fellow executive producer Moses Port feel they understand the show and how its fans influence what goes on the screen.
"We're walking into a situation where we have the best cast on television," Port said. "We're not going to screw it up."
Most of the cast, including Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs, were present, but Chevy Chase, who got into a dispute with Harmon, was absent.
Season 4 promises evolution as some Greendale Community College students enter senior year and explore significant relationship changes. The show will visit Pierce's mansion "and the twisted world where Pierce (Chase) lives," Guarascio said, and it will go to an Inspector Spacetime convention.
Expect some new animation, too, probably in the first episode.
