The Spirit: User Reviews
Unfortunately this won't be a full review of the film because I walked out. After nearly an hour of the film I just couldn't take it anymore. Even Eva Medes' silky soft healthy and heaving naked buttocks couldn't save this film from being not only sleep inducing boring but also incredibly brainless.
Being a fan of Frank Miller when I first picked up The Dark Knight Returns well about 25 years ago I was really looking forward to his directorial debut. But it's clear that he should stick to writing and illustrating comics as well as having other directors guide his vision in the proper way. With Frank taking both writing and directing credits this is proof that he should NEVER direct again. Maybe not even write but certainly not direct.
And the stolen Sin City visuals didn't make up for anything. Some of the best shots had already been shown in trailers and previews and some of those scenes were in completely wrong places.
The bad thing is that the actors actually did their job with some great performances but the dialogue and writing in the film was so hard to sell at times making it unbearable to watch. Again, all the women looked stunning and the set design was, um, okay but not enough to distract from the horrible direction.
Overall, this fart of a film should've never been produced and all the gorgeous ladies and the great Sam Jackson couldn't save this from being anything but the worst film of the year if not the decade. My only hope is that Frank Miller can redeem himself on his next project so long as he's not in the director's chair. Another collaboration with Zack Snyder or Robert Rodriguez would be best.
Avoid seeing this film at all costs.
