What's your signature move? The Dewey Decimator
How did you get started in roller derby? Saw a commercial, set the DVR, fell in love! …swore, “If I ever live in Texas again I’ll move to Austin and skate for a banked track team.” …got my bluff called with a daring email linked to a recruitment story in the news. (DOH!) Put on skates for the first time in 14 years … fell a lot … fell some more. Tried out in spring ’06… became a Cincinnati Rollergirl.
How long have you been a Cincinnati Rollergirl? Since season one - April 2006
How do you prepare for a bout? Practice practice practice…sleep late, eat some homemade waffles with the hubby…put on lots of sparkly eye shadow, rouge the lips, grab a sugar-free Red Bull and ROLL OUT!
What's the craziest thing that happened to you during a bout? Hmmm…during a bout it’s all pretty crazy for me since I bounce off the floor like a rubber rag-doll. The craziest thing I ever did on skates was drop into a 20-foot bowl at an outdoor skate park. Witnesses can attest to the hilarity that ensued as I my life flashed before my eyes in the biggest butt-busting fall of my skating career…all the 13 year-old boys watched with awe and then proceeded to point and laugh like a pack of wild hyenas.
Number of bruises you got last season: There are definitely too many to count! In season, I typically have 3-5 bruises or scrapes at all times.
What's your favorite Cincinnati hotspot?
For entertainment: Know Theatre of Cincinnati
For drinks: Grammer’s
For wi-fi and the best cup of locally roasted coffee: Coffee Emporium
What's your drink of choice? Hot coffee every morning and Christian Moerlein at night!
Personal motto: Live life like you’re gonna be a cool grandma.
Fun fact: Texas born and bred – I’m a fifth generation Houstonian!
