2011 METROMIX IDOL KARAOKE CONTEST

 

OFFICIAL RULES

 

1.         NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.  A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING.  ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY.  VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2.         Eligibility.  Subject to the additional restrictions below, the 2011 Metromix Idol Karaoke Contest (the “Contest”) is open residents of the state of Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky who are 18 years or older at the time of entry.  Employees of Gannett Satellite Information Network, Inc. d/b/a The Enquirer, Metromix Cincinnati, Gannett Co., Inc.,  (“Sponsor”), RiverCity Entertainment, BagPipes Irish Pub, and each of their respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such employees, are not eligible to enter or to win. 

3.         How To Enter.  The audition rounds for the contest will be held on February 10, 17, 24 and March 3, 2011 beginning at 8:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) and lasting until approximately midnight of each audition date.  Contestants will audition in the order in which they sign in.  If a contestants name is called and they do not appear, they have until the next contestant finishes to appear and compete.  If a contestant has signed in for auditions and auditions go past midnight it is up to the discretion of the judges if auditions continue past midnight and those signed in are able to compete.  It is recommended that all those wishing to compete arrive no later than 7:30pm the evening of auditions to signup.  Contestants must be present at the end of the night to be a finalist chosen and in order to move onto finals.

            Each contest will be be required to select a song from the DJ’s list provided and will perform for two to four judges.

Contestants acknowledge and agree that Metromix, RiverCity Entertainment, BagPipes Irish Pub or its sponsors, shall have the right to edit, adapt, modify, reproduce, publish, promote, create a sound recording of, broadcast, or otherwise display or use entries in any way it sees fit without limitation or compensation to entrants. Any questions regarding the entrants shall be determined by Metromix and RiverCity Entertainment and BagPipes Irish Pub and they reserve the right to disqualify any persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the contest. Metromix, RiverCity Entertainment and BagPipes Irish Pub further reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that is offensive or otherwise inappropriate for viewing by a general audience.

 Previous CiN Weekly or Metromix Idol contestants who have places in the top three are ineligible to compete this year.  Contestants may only compete one song per audition night but may compete multiple nights throughout the audition process.

Winner Selection. A panel of judges selected by Sponsor will judge all eligible contestants on each audition night according to the following criteria: 1.) Vocal Performance of the Song selected, 2.) Stage presence & performance, 3.) Audience Participation/reaction and 4.) Natural vocal talent (overall range & quality).  (equal weight will be given to each criterion). The ratings scale for each criterion will range from one (0.0) to ten (10.0), with ten (10.0) being the best score. In case of a tie, contestants may be asked to sing again or final ruling will be based upon judges discretion.  Each audition night, the top three contestants will be asked back for the Finals on March 10, 2011.  Once a contestant has secured a spot in the finals on March 10, 2010, they will be asked to prepare (using the available music list provided by the DJ; no other music permitted) two songs of their choice.  The evening of finals, the top 12 (3 from each of the 4 audition rounds) will compete.  Judging criteria stays the same as audition night.  Winner will be determined that night (March 10, 2010).

In the event of a tie, tied contestants will be re-judged on the same criteria listed above and may even be asked to sing again or will be rediscussed by the judges. Decisions of judges and Sponsor shall be final and binding in all respects.

5.         Prizes and Odds.  Grand Prize: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive the title 2011 Metromix Idol and may be provided the opportunity to play on the Metromix stage at Taste of Cincinnati in 2011.  They will also receive $1,000 cash prize.   Second place will receive $300 and Third place will receive $100. Based on the discretion of sponsors, additional runners-up may also be invited to perform on the Metromix.com Taste of Cincinnati Stage.  Prize may be subject to additional restrictions.

6.         Winner Notification and Acceptance.  Winners will be notified the night of finals on March 10, 2010 in person.  Failure of winner to appear may result in disqualification of winner, forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes, and selection of a substitute winner from among all remaining eligible entries.  If applicable, winner must personally visit Sponsor’s offices at 312 Elm Street, Cinti OH 45202 or BagPipes Irish Pub and must present a valid photo identification. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes.  Prizes are nonassignable and nontransferable.  No substitutions allowed by winner.  Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.  Winners are solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes.  Winners may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability and a liability and publicity release (except where prohibited by law) which must be returned within ten (10) days of date of personal delivery or date of postmark.  Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release within ten (10) days, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner.  Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winner’s consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation the Internet, or further compensation.  Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsor. 

7.         Participation.  By participating, contestants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor.  In the event the Contest is compromised by tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest.  Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date.

8.         Copyright.  By entering the Contest, each contestant grants to Sponsor an exclusive, royalty-free and irrevocable right and license to publish, print, edit or otherwise use the contestant’s submitted entry, in whole or in part, for any purpose and in any manner or media (including, without limitation, the Internet) throughout the world in perpetuity, and to license others to do so, all without limitation or further compensation.  Each contestant further agrees that if his/her entry is selected by Sponsor as the winning entry, he/she will sign any additional license or release that Sponsors may require, and will not publicly perform or display his or her submission without the express permission of Sponsors.

9.         Construction. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
