The music’s not the only thing going on during this festival weekend. Whether you’re going to the Macy’s Festival or not, here are a few events and exhibits you might want to check out.

Thursday, July 29

Meet Charlie Wilson, 6-7 p.m. R&B and national recording artist. Macy’s Fountain Place, 505 Vine St., downtown.

Gospel Music Workshop of America Festival. 7 p.m. Duke Energy Convention Center, 525 Elm St., Downtown. Tickets: $30, $25, $15 ages 12 and under. 800-745-3000; www.gmwanational.org.

Friday, July 30

Faith Daniels, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., on-air personalities from WMOJ-FM (100.3). Macy’s Fountain Place.

Vendor Trunk Shows. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Preview fall fashions, meet experts at Bra Fit event and receive a free tote with any INC purchase. Trunk shows feature Carol’s Daughter and Krimson by Kwame – and you can meet Kwame Jackson from NBC’s “The Apprentice.” Macy’s Fountain Place.

Festival513. 6 p.m. – 2 a.m. Find art, food and fun outside Paul Brown Stadium during this annual street festival. Second and Elm streets, Downtown.

Saturday, July 31

Festival513 continues. 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Second and Elm streets, Downtown.

Macy’s and MOJO’s “Got a Brand New Bag Contest.” 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Continue browsing fall fashions and be part of the WMOJ-FM (100.3) remote broadcast with a handbag giveaway. DJ Nate provides the music.

And a couple of exhibits

America I AM: The African American Footprint. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Discover five centuries of African American history told through more than 250 artifacts. Cincinnati Museum Center, 1301 Western Ave., Queensgate. Tickets $8-$12. 513-287-7000; www.cincymuseum.org.

Textural Rhythms: Constructing the Jazz Tradition, Contemporary African American Quilts. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. This traveling tour from 55 artists of the Women of Color Quilters Network features 64 quilts. Artists include Michael Cummings, Ed Johnetta Miller, Tina Brewer and Jim Smoote. National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, 50 E. Freedom Way, Downtown. Tickets: $8-$12, free for ages 5 and younger. 513-333-7500; www.nurfc.org.
