You can still catch Kevin Nealon on the tube, playing stoner Doug Wilson on the Showtime series "Weeds," but let's face it - he'll be forever linked to "Saturday Night Live."

Nealon appeared in 174 episodes of SNL from 1986 to 1999, according to imdb.com, during a time when the public got its first look at rising stars Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Chris Farley and Adam Sandler.

In keeping with our "blast from the past" theme, let's take a look at Nealon's SNL work - including a monologue that'll bring you right back to 1994.

Hans and Franz: Nealon (Franz) and Carvey (Hans) played the Austrian muscle heads, wearing thick pads under their gray sweat suits and talking in stupid accents. They were, of course, mocking now-California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who ultimately adopted their "girlie men" catch phrase.

And who can forget this? "Ve are goinck to pump... (clap) ...you up!"

Weekend Update: Years before Amy Poehler and Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon, Nealon helmed the news desk at SNL. From 1991 to 1994, Nealon took a wry look at the headlines, often accompanied by bits from Sandler or Farley. His signoff? "I'm Kevin Nealon, and that's news to me."

... and finally, Mr. Subliminal: This character always told you what he was thinking - in short, rapid bursts between sentences. Mr. Subliminal gave this monologue during a 1994 SNL episode addressing the fate of Michael Fay, an American teen sentenced to caning for theft and vandalism in Singapore.

Enjoy (from snltranscripts.jt.org):

"Weekend Update would like to offer this editorial opinion right now. (Superimposed text reads: "Subliminal Editorial.") In Singapore, public flogging by law is one hundred years old. Dick Clark. And, frankly ... I was stunned to think there was any place on Earth where a teenage boy could be stripped and paddled across his bare buttocks. Neverland Ranch.

"Admittedly ... some convicted felons deserve to be beaten. Leona Helmsley. But some say justice must be satisfied. But who gets satisfaction out of having people tied up and whipped? Rick James. Others say ... this acts as a deterrent but no one can predict the future. Hillary Clinton.

"Yes, the boy admitted to spray painting cars, but he's only 18, and young people often do stupid and impulsive things they later regret. Shannen Doherty. I happen to think ... that everyone's entitled to one mistake. Euro Disney. And I'm not saying there aren't ... those who I'd love to see get a good flogging. Urkel.

"It's just that ... I'm afraid we've become so insensitive that we've learned to accept the idea of a man's beating in public. Pee Wee Herman."
