You better watch out - there's a new venue in town!
The Bank of Kentucky Center broke ground in May 2006 and opened its doors for the first time two years later, for Northern Kentucky University's spring commencement on May 10.
Since then, the venue has been the site for about a dozen private events, but the Carrie Underwood and Little Big Town concert on Sept. 24 is the first publicly ticketed event at the center.
The center, located on the NKU campus, contains 10,000 seats and plans to hold its own next to other local venues.
"The Bank of Kentucky Center is a more intimate venue with seating that is closer to the action than some other facilities," says Les Crooks, the center's general manager.
The venue also has two party suites and two party decks and will be home to NKU men's and women's basketball. So far the venue has theater, music, comedy, sports, monster truck rallies and educational events lined up.
"We fully intend to compete for all events and complete the university's vision of a true regional special events center," Crooks says.
