Katharine McPhee vows to end malaria
McPhee's Malaria No More trip was her first journey to Africa, and thus her first time seeing the school she built.
"There was a primary school, a maternity ward and an orphanage, and so what they needed funds for was for the preschool, and we (she and husband Nick Cokas) had family members living in Burkina, so they were open to the project," she explains. "I was working at the time when they did the cutting of the ribbon, so I wasn’t able to go, but I saw pictures and they sent video, but you don’t really get the real effect of what it’s like until you actually go."
