Here's a look at some of our readers' top-rated Irish bars around town.

Murphy's Pub

pick Murphy's Pub

2329 W. Clifton Ave. - Cincinnati
513-721-6148

Free pizza! Got your attention? The management at Murphy’s Pub, well aware that twenty-somethings don’t always get proper nutrition, serves free pizza Monday nights. Any other night of the week, grab some free popcorn and head back through the labyrinth of rooms that make up this bar. There’s also an outdoor patio out back. The kind of bar to not take itself too seriously, Murphy’s offers signature drinks and shots, such as the Shamrock Bomb and the Dirty Leprechaun Bomb. Never be bored in this authentic Irish pub – take your pick of foosball, several dart boards, two pool tables and if you’re lucky, the occasional pick-up game of flip cup.

Crow's Nest

Crow's Nest

4544 W. Eighth St. - Cincinnati
513-921-2980

Crow’s Nest claims to be the second-oldest bar on Cincinnati’s West Side. That kind of history usually carries with it a respect for tradition and not many things are more traditional in this city than the beloved Crow's Nest Fish Sandwich. If a restaurant can master all of the combined elements - bread, batter, fish, cooking time, tartar sauce, etc. - then patrons won’t be able to resist getting their hands on the fried, flaky pub staple. Once voted (and still self-proclaimed as) Cincinnati’s Best Fish Sandwich, Crow’s Nest has the formula down pat - six ounces of Icelandic cod, beer battered and deep fried to lock in moisture and create a golden crunchy outer shell, sandwiched between two slices of marble rye bread and served with a side of creamy tartar sauce. The beer doesn’t stop at the batter, though. Wash your sandwich down with a smooth Guinness or Harp and you’ve got yourself a spectacular lunch or dinner. This Irish-themed bar is open early, closes late, and (aside from fried fish) offers patrons a menu full of pub favorites, as well as a nice selection of liquor and bottled or draft beer, an outdoor beer garden, dart tournaments and cornhole, occasional live acoustic music, and a happy hour from 3-7 p.m. daily.

Liar's Club

Liar's Club

300 E. 10th St. - Newport
859-261-5427

We cannot tell a lie - this Newport establishment features a wide range of fun specials, from College Night to Service Industry Night. Those craving live music should stop by on Saturdays for some live acoustic tunes. And if you just couldn't make it out of work on time, try the Liar's Club's extended happy hour until 11 p.m.

O'Bryon's Irish Pub

pick O'Bryon's Irish Pub

1998 Madison Road - Cincinnati
513-321-5525

Maybe it’s the luck o’ the Irish that keeps Irish pubs so popular. Or maybe it’s the food and a laid-back atmosphere mixed with cool people and even cooler drinks. At O’Bryon’s Irish Pub, it’s a toss up between an Irish pub and a sports bar. Flat-screen TVs line the walls inside, where friendly servers bring cold beers while patrons munch on free peanuts. Enjoy a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday with appetizer and drink specials.

Claddagh Irish Pub

5075 Deerfield Blvd. - Mason
513-770-0999

Sure, you're going to find Guinness on tap here. But even more, there's an overall nice Irish feel at Claddagh, from the authentic antiques to the beat of the spirited Irish music to some traditional fare such as fish and chips and bangers and mash. In warmer months, dine and drink out on the patio.

Dingle House Irish Pub

9102 West Chester Towne Center Dr. - West Chester Township
513-874-7468

Located in West Chester, Dingle House Irish Pub offers authentic Irish atmosphere, as all of its furnishings hail from the Emerald Isle. There's plenty of above-average pub food to choose from, such as crab-crusted filet or fish & chips. Dingle House also has 20 beers on tap, and 65 in bottles, including plenty of Irish and domestic micro-brews.

Shady O'Grady's Pub

9443 Loveland-Madeira Road - Cincinnati
513-791-2753

Looks can be deceiving at Shady O’Grady’s in Loveland. On the outside, it appears to be a quaint and quiet bar, but in reality it rocks on the weekends. The crowd tends to be a solid group of regulars but newcomers are certainly welcome. This little Irish pub has been around for years, keeping the crowds entertained with live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Shady O’Gradys has a daily happy hour from 2-7.
