Mynt Martini: User Reviews
Mynt Martini
28 Fountain Square - Cincinnati513-621-6968
I have been in the bar scene for some time now and i have starting to travel more to downtown cincy. Not many places impress me and/or my friends but for the money, athmosphere, crowd, drinks and staff...i was majorly impressed with Mynt Martini.
Coming in the door i feel welcomed and feel safe with there neat and well orginized security staff. I walked and felt like there was a pulse to the crowd and great beat going on by the DJ. Was a small wait for a drink because it was a little bit busy but the bartender made all my drinks correct (not to weak/to strong) and was very effecient and did this about 8 sets of times (6 people in my party) which really impressed me. Think the bartenders name was Danny or Chuck, go see one of them, was a great guy!
My party and I ended up going all out and getting a table to have some fun and it was a blast (i DEF recommend doing this, liked the couches in the center, may try the main stage next time). Later on we ended up talking to the GM of Mynt (I think his name was Glen) and the Head of Security (I think his name was Logan), both were VERY polite and curtious and made us feel at welcomed and talking care of. Both even came back a couple times through out the night and checked on us to make sure all was well and up to par.
I feel that Cincinnati has been dying down the past couple of years but im seeing more and more bars come in (Passage, Black Finn, Lunar) and i see the drive to help cincy grow and im excited.
I say try Mynt out for yourself, if you dont like it then dont go back if its not your scene but dont knock it til you try it, i know because i did until i was overly impressed with the service and zazz it had! I will be booking my next party or gathering there very soon and making sure im part of the party a little more this time instead of just sitting back watching it this time.
GOOD LUCK MYNT!!!
Well....Let's just say that "dress code", is another word for race quota. And it's a slippery slope for emMYNT bar closure. I'm all for having standards. Lord knows that if none are set for the style deprived male patrons they would show up looking any kind of mess (save, for the quasi hetrosexaul D/L types). I digress, But it seems that the gaurds at the door have a very limmited or ...."bias", opinon of what is current style trend, and what is "urban gear".
Report This ReviewThey will not answer there phone!! Please try to call it don't worry they will not answer, you will just get a recording of the upcoming events. The bartender's suck... Kept adding stuff to drink's i would order, Three olive cherry and sprite, Doesn't sounds hard right. Please spare me the half glass of grenadine and cherry. I cashed out and left, 6 drinks was 82.50 i left a 4.00 tip for pore service that turned into a 14.00 tip. So unless you love cover charges expensive drinks and poor/RUDE service that STEAL's from you at the end of the night i would not suggest going here.
Report This ReviewOk, like a few of the first reviewers above I was not impressed initially by the direction it seemed to have went when first opened. However, upon my second visit to Mynt I noticed a changed. Having been in the business I know that you have to work out a few kinks in a new biz. Changes I noticed this visit, besides the fact there was a management change, it seemed more organized. I talked to one of the operators and was informed that due to the time (much longer than they expected to open) that they were working with Cincinattians to help direct the growth. I too experienced a charge on my credit card but was informed by Visa it was a mechanical error not faught of the venue. Staff was polite, service was really good and the menu seems to be changing a little for the better. The operators did not seem cocky at all and that was a plus. I am looking forward to the warm days and their patio. Plus I noticed the door staff was different and very friendly. You re won my business!...Good Luck MM
Report This ReviewMy friends and I were eager to check out Mynt . It was under construction for so long, we were excited to check it out! What a disappointment! None of the spirits are displayed, how are we to make a "call"martini? one of my friends wanted a Dos Luna's margaritta- all they sell is Patron. What's that about? We don't get a choice as to what we're going to drink AND PAY FOR?? There are no prices on the food menu. Why?
We found the atmoshere cold and sterile. The DJ was loud and obnoxious.
With so many choices in downtown Cincinnati, Mynt needs to regroup and reaccess. Heck, Rockbottom has $2.00 beers right next door, why pay the Mynt beer price?
Mynt is trying to project this upscale venue, ask what they are pouring in the well. SWILL! Atleast put bacardi, beam, jack, cuervo, a respectable vodka. Come on, you know better! Shame on you!
We will check back in 6 mos and see if you've made any changes.
Report This ReviewAfter anxiously awaiting for this bar to open, I was utterly disappointed. Atmosphere is not conducive to mingling unless you enjoy skipping around to 3 bars and dodging tables, nor is it close to ideal for having a one on one conversation since you never know when the DJ is going to scream "Who Dey" in the microphone or the overly attentive waitress dressed in sequins is going to interrupt yet again to see how you like the second martini.
As for the food, don't bother. Pita wedges served with hummus is not a good happy hour deal when they split the pitas in half and you have to try to scoop with a flimsy pita. Want to know how much the food will cost you, you will have to ask, someone must have thought this place had high class potential to be convinced enough to leave prices off of the menu, this is Cincinnati, and Mynt is not a high class bar, inappropriate.
The only thing I look forward to at Mynt is its closing and a business owner who knows how to operate a bar to take it over!
Report This ReviewI truly wanted to enjoy Mynt as it is the new addition to the downtown scene, but it missed the mark. The lingering gentlemen at the door, the poorly dressed waitresses, the over priced and underwhelming food, and the limited drinks did not help. In the end, this bar has an identity crisis on its hands. There are more tvs than a sports bar, a loud DJ that sounds more like a shopping experience at Shoe Carnival, and a complete lack of decor for a lounge. If going for a lounge with friends to talk about the day, the music and DJ will drown you out. If going to watch a game, the lack of inexpensive drinks and selection in general will keep you away. If you are going to be seen here... there will be no one worth being seen by. This is an odd combination of Bang and McFaddens that just misses the mark. Mynt - make up your mind as to who your market is b/c sadly this urban single guy will not be returning. This will do well with the 20 somethings, but I would not expect much beyond 25 as expendable income will be taken elsewhere.
Put prices on the food menu and get some draft beers and larger wine selection. Your layout design was great and location is superb, but in the end there is nothing else worth returning for sadly. I wanted this to be a new place i enjoyed, but I only enjoyed leaving after seeing the bill that was outrageous for happy hour prices.
I hope in time much of this will be resolved. I will check back in 6 months if Mynt is still open.
Report This ReviewMy credit card was authorized 4 times for 2 purchases, when I called to question them I was told by a manager that they would call me right back, they didn't. I have contacted the better business bureau and my bank about these charges. I will also not return to Mynt and have advised my friends to boycott as well. Bad business for a place that has only been in business since NYE.
