Golf lovers unite, when the weather is too cold or rainy to hit the links, stop by Greenies during the week or on the weekend to practice your swing and enjoy good food and drinks.

The mood: Greenies has lots of open space with booths and tables and a large open bar.

In the back is the indoor golf course where you can virtually golf at some of the world’s greatest courses, but be sure to call first and make a tee time just like a regular course. They even offer golf leagues on the simulator for either 10 or 20 weeks and 9 or 18 holes.

If golf isn’t your thing, Greenies has a ton of other activities such as Live Team Trivia on Thursdays from 8-10 p.m., seven pool tables and 25 high definition TVs. Take in a drink on their covered outdoor deck or bring the kids along to play skee ball.

The food: Greenies has recently added some new menu items such as the Buffalo Chicken Dip, Cream Cheese Poppers, Mushroom Burger, Hot Ham and Cheese Croissant, Tempura Shrimp, Country Fried Steak and the Sweet Spicy Asian Chicken, which, our waitress said, people come in specifically for.

My date and I decided to start out with an order of the Buffalo Chicken Dip ($8), which was shredded chicken tossed with cream cheese, ranch and buffalo sauce with tortilla chips for dipping. The dip could have been a touch hotter but the chips tasted homemade and there were plenty of them to go around.

After hearing our waitresses’ suggestion about the Asian Chicken ($11), my date decided to try that. The chicken was crispy fried chicken with red peppers, broccoli and carrots tossed with a sweet and spicy chili sauce served over rice. The dish was plentiful and even though they didn’t have soy sauce, the teriyaki sauce our waitress brought over added a nice touch.

Since I was on a kick from the Buffalo Chicken Dip, I decided to have the Buffalo Wrap ($8), which came with grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, diced tomatoes in a flour tortilla with ranch dressing and a side of Saratoga Chips. The wrap could have had a touch more of Buffalo flavoring but was good all around.

The drinks: Greenies has 12 beers on tap every day which include Yuengling, Killian’s Irish Red, Stella and a Seasonal Brew which currently is Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy.

They have 17 bottled beers and house Merlots, Chardonnays and a White Zinfandel. If you’re looking for something a bit stronger, try one of their cocktails such as the Appletini, Bahama Mama or Chocolate Martini.

Once my date found out the Seasonal Brew was Summer Shandy, he was sold and got one on draft for about $5.

I, on the other hand, was in the mood for something stronger and went with the Pineapple Upside Down Martini for about $5. The martini could have been a bit stronger but had good flavor.

The verdict: Greenies is a great place to practice your golf swing during the off season or off days of your golf league and a great place to catch up with family and friends.
